Comparative Medicine Services

Tufts Comparative Medicine Services (CMS) provides an array of in vivo services to support preclinical research and other areas of biomedical research. CMS supports the Boston Campus. The Laboratory Animal Medicine Service (LAMS) supports the Grafton Campus.

Tufts Comparative Medicine Services (CMS) provides an array of in vivo services to support preclinical and biomedical research to industry and to academic research laboratories in Massachusetts and the New England area. Tufts CMS provides oversight and management of the AAALAC accredited animal care and use program on the Boston campus. Tufts CMS also supports the vivarium for Tufts Launchpad | BioLabs, a world-class biotech incubator space on the Boston campus that provides resources for entrepreneurs in the life sciences.

Additional Services

Services are provided to Tufts University and Tufts Medical Center as well as external academic institutions and external companies throughout Massachusetts and New England. The services provided by Tufts CMS include but are not limited to:

Administration and Finance

The responsibilities of A&F fall within the broad areas of financial and business operations management; computer, network, and information management; and, oversight and support of departmental personnel issues. A&F is staffed by management and supervisory staff as well as administrative/clerical assistants.

Regulatory Support

Regulatory Support, including IACUC, IBC, and Chemical Hazard Registration, is managed by a centralized regulatory support office that works closely with Tufts CMS
