Training Description

This training is composed of three required elements

  • An interactive video-based training that provides an introduction to Bloodborne Pathogens and the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard. There are questions embedded in this module to check your understanding of the material.
  • A training module that covers an overview of the NIH Guidelines as well as biosafety as it relates to Biosafety Level 2 and the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard. Topics include risk assessments, hazards of agents, exposure routes, PPE, engineering controls, decontamination, spill response, exposure response, training requirements, and lab responsibilities. This module also supplements the above video by providing specific information related to working at Tufts, typical examples of you may encounter an exposure to BBP, how to avoid exposures, and what to do if you have an exposure to BBP while working. This module also has embedded checkpoint questions throughout the presentation. You must complete the entire module to ensure that all questions have been answered.
  • A link to the online Hepatitis B Vaccine Acknowledgement Form. Clicking the link will bring you to an online survey form. You may choose to accept or decline the Hepatitis B vaccine. Each employee who has risk of exposure to BBP must fill out this form to submit their choice.
