Purchase Requests

Animal purchase requests are submitted to TuftsCMS-ordering@tufts.edu via completing an Animal Purchase Request form that requires the approved protocol number and an award account to be charged for the purchase of the animals, as well as for housing and care.

When submitting the purchase request, please include in the email a name of the Local Research Administrator (LRA) that supports the project. The LRA will be receiving a copy of the monthly invoice with the details of animal care and use charges. If there is a change in the LRA assignment, please email TuftsCMS-ordering@tufts.edu by the end of the month when such change has occurred.

It is the responsibility of the LRA to update the account number on file with Tufts CMS timely to avoid incorrect charges. Account updates must be sent to TuftsCMS-ordering@tufts.edu by the end of the month in which a new award account becomes available or an award reaches its end date. Please include the old account number and the effective date of the change in the notification.

Monthly animal charges are processed and reflected in the system in the following month. While reviewing transactions at award closeout, please note that charges to sponsored awards are allowable after the award expiration date during the closeout period for the costs incurred before the award end date.
