Basic Biosafety Level 1 (BSL1) Training

All faculty, staff, and students who will be listed on an IBC registration that has been approved for work at Biosafety Level 1 must complete the BSL1 Training before they can be added to a registration. Training Description

This training covers an overview of the NIH Guidelines as well as biosafety as it relates to Biosafety Level 1. Topics include risk assessments, hazards of agents, exposure routes, PPE, engineering controls, decontamination, spill response, exposure response, training requirements, and lab responsibilities. The training must be renewed every 3 years.

This is an online training that can be accessed via the Tufts Learning Center. It has checkpoint questions throughout the module. You must complete the entire module to ensure that all questions have been answered.
