Continuing Review Submission Deadlines

In order to ensure your study is given appropriate review in a timely manner, continuing review (CR) / Administrative Annual Review (AAR) submissions must be submitted 60 days prior to the study’s expiration date.

Please refer to the Continuing Review/Administrative Annual Review page on the IRB website for more information on CRs/AARs.

As a courtesy, the eIRB system will send up to 3 automated e-mail reminder notices, to the study’s Principal Investigator (PI), Primary Contact, and PI Proxy (if one is assigned) informing the research team that a continuing review submission is due.

These notices are sent out as follows:

  • First Notice: 90 days prior to the study’s expiration date and submissions are due 60 days prior to the study’s expiration date. Please submit your continuing review application before the deadline in order to ensure prompt review of your study.
  • Second Notice: 60 days prior to the study’s expiration date (if a continuing review has not been received).
  • Third Notice: 30 days prior to the study’s expiration date (if a continuing review has not been received).

In order to keep track of when your study submissions are due, we encourage you to do the following:

  • Assign a Primary Contact and/or PI Proxy to the study. This will allow multiple research team members to receive these continuing review reminder e-mails from the eIRB system.
  • Create reminders for yourself based on your study’s expiration date to prepare for when a submission will be due.
