Working with Human Research Subjects

Research involving Human Subjects has special requirements and requires approval from the Institutional Review Board (IRB).

About the IRB

There are two IRB offices at Tufts University, the Health Sciences IRB (HS IRB) and the Social Behavioral & Education Research IRB (SBER IRB). All studies that involve human research subjects must be approved by an IRB, and all Tufts Medical Center studies must be approved by the HS IRB.

Submitting to the IRB

All IRB submissions are completed online using the eIRB. There are specific considerations depending on the nature of your study and to which IRB office you are submitting to.
