Gary L. Horowitz, MD, is nationally recognized as expert, teacher, and leader in the field of clinical chemistry. He has authored many journal articles, editorials, and book chapters, on topics ranging from developing analytical methods to effective laboratory utilization. He is currently an Associate Editor of Clinical Chemistry, the most prominent journal in the field. He has received numerous teaching awards, consistently receiving outstanding reviews from clinical pathology residents, clinical chemistry fellows, and practicing clinical laboratory directors. He is an active member of two national professional societies - the American Association of Clinical Chemistry (AACC) and the College of American Pathologists (CAP). He recently finished serving his second 4-year term as Chair of the CAP’s Chemistry Resource Committee, and he is currently Vice Chair of the CAP’s Accuracy-Based Testing Committee. He has received two national recognition awards from the CAP - the Distinguished Patient Care Award in 2014, and the Laboratory Improvement Programs Service Award in 2015.
