Conversion of Biomass to Gaseous Fuel Hydrocarbons

Unmet need:

Declining petroleum resources have heightened the interest in biomass as potentially the only sustainable source of organic carbon that can be used in the chemical and energy industry

Technology solution:

New hybrid approach to biofuels production from renewable resources

-     Utilize metabolic engineering to synthesize targeted biomolecules from sugars derived from corn or cellulosic feedstocks

-     A green fuel that can additionally take advantage of the existing transportation and marketing infrastructure that is in place for propane

-     Production under mild aqueous conditions and from bio-derived feedstocks
