Introducing Ted Myatt and Jaclyn Shaw

The Office of the Vice Provost is excited to welcome two new members to our leadership team. Following two comprehensive searches, we have selected Theodore Myatt, Sc.D., as Associate Vice Provost for Research Integrity and Jaclyn Shaw, M.S., as Senior Associate Vice Provost for Research, Strategy and Operations.

Ted

AVP for Research Integrity: Ted comes to us from the University of Rhode Island where he is currently the Associate Vice President for Research Administration with oversight of the Office of Research Integrity, Office of Sponsored Projects, and the Comparative Biology Resource Center. His research background includes environmental microbiology, transmission of respiratory viruses, and exposure assessment.

In this role, Ted will support our research mission by serving as a member of the executive leadership team for the Office of the Vice Provost for Research. He will be responsible for implementing, facilitating, monitoring, and supporting a comprehensive approach to research integrity at Tufts University, including research compliance and conflict of interest, human subject research protection, animal subject protection, use of biohazardous agents, recombinant DNA, radiation sources, and laboratory safety including chemical hygiene. Dr. Myatt will also work directly with the VPR to grow and support a vigorous program in research security including export controls and data security. Ted will join us on May 8th.

We would remiss not to mention Dr. Phil Hinds for his integral role as Senior Director of Research Safety and Regulatory Programs ad interim, a responsibility that he took on when he came on board in 2020. We are deeply grateful for his time and insight.
