Benefits of Being a Peer Reviewer for NIH
Benefits include serving others while helping yourself. As a reviewer, you’ll benefit from NIH’s continuous submission policy, which lets you apply any time for an R01(link is external), R21(link is external), or R34(link is external)* funding opportunity that uses standard receipt dates. Since travel can be an obstacle for many reviewers, NIH conducts some Internet meetings and Video Assisted Meetings. Researchers early in their careers can also gain reviewer experience through the NIH Early Career Reviewer (ECR) Program(link is external). For more information, please see the NIAID Funding News Benefits of Being a Peer Reviewer.
