This multi-agency program supports research on the ecological, evolutionary, and social principles and processes that influence the transmission dynamics of infectious diseases. Projects must include quantitative or computational understanding of pathogen transmission dynamics, with the intent to discover principles of infectious disease transmission and testing models that elucidate infectious disease systems. Projects are expected to include interdisciplinary efforts, and take a One Health approach that can include environmental factors and climate, population dynamics, and genetics of reservoir species or hosts, as well as transmission among humans, non-human animals, and/or plants.
