Tufts University is one of the most inventive universities in the world, according to a new ranking compiled by the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) and the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO).
Tufts ranked 70th on the list of Top 100 Worldwide Universities Granted U.S. Patents in 2017 , based on data obtained from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The rank marked an improvement of fifteen places over last year’s report.
“Our ranking is a reflection of our very innovative faculty and students, the university’s strategic commitment to entrepreneurship, and its ongoing support for inventorship and innovation,” said Simin Nikbin Meydani, Tufts vice provost for research. “We’re committed to promoting a culture of discovery at Tufts that hastens innovations that will make the world a better place.
