Community Servings is an organization that promotes healing through food; using medically tailored nutritious meals to individuals and families in need. Their commitment to nourish the community extends through to the Nutrition Education and Counseling Programs that cater to assist one-on-one in managing medical conditions, and also provide educational workshops to the community. Additionally, they provide food service job trainings to cultivate useful skills and prepare trainees interested in the culinary field.
On February 14th, the OVPR Team joined hands with Community Servings for the 3rd OVPR Volunteer Day; and Valentine’s Day was the perfect day to share some love for folks who could use the healing power of a good hand-made meal to nourish them!
Volunteers helped in the kitchen with various food prep and sorting tasks that vary from chopping and peeling to labeling and portioning foods. A group of 11 eagerly supported numerous people who really deserved the care.
The OVPR also be hosted Card Writing sessions where those who could not attend the shift had a change to write and doodle encouraging and uplifting cards that were to be delivered with the meals.
