Dear Colleagues,

I am writing with announcements of several personnel news in OVPR Research Administration Compliance & Risk Management and Pre-Award offices. Both of these offices are in Research Administration and Development (RAD) arm of OVPR.

  1.  Our new Research Administration Compliance & Risk Management unit has a distinction of being the only RAD office that is currently fully staffed!

Meryem Ould-Sfiya, previously Senior Research Administrator at the Friedman School, began on January 15th to lead this unit in the role of Associate Director.

Janet Schenden who performed duties of Effort Reporting Coordinator since Catalina’s retirement in August, has assumed the newly created position of Research Administration Compliance Specialist. She will continue to manage the effort reporting system, in addition to her other duties.

The RA Compliance and Risk Management unit consists of three positions and also includes Jordan Wilkinson, Subrecipient Compliance Specialist, who continues to work with all of you on subrecipient risk assessment and monitoring.

Please see details of what RA Compliance unit is tasked with on our website.

  1. Pre-Award.

It is with great pleasure we announce the promotions of Shauna Gaffny to Research Administrator I and Colleen Donaghey to Research Administrator II. Please see the new portfolio listing resulting from these promotions that will also be posted to the point of contact section for Central Pre-Award on the website here.

In her work as a Research Administration Coordinator, Shauna worked tirelessly on RAS cleanup behind the scenes and has quickly learned drafting sub agreements while also helping with reviews of agreements and no cost extensions, budgets revisions, and other transactions. This work has prepared Shauna for her new role with portfolio of departments in Engineering and Arts and Sciences.

Colleen, always calm under pressure, has shown great aptitude for handling complex situations with subcontracts with tricky terms and conditions and review of complex proposals. This will be a great opportunity for Colleen to expand her expertise at Tufts. Colleen will mostly be working with the School of Medicine and the Dental School.

Please join me in congratulating our colleagues!

Warm wishes,
Zoya
